How to configure encoding defaults

Choose which output versions Moviie should prepare for future uploads and whether to retain the original file.

Updated on July 30, 20261 min read

Encoding defaults determine which versions Moviie prepares when processing future uploads. They affect storage use, compatibility, and the time required to finish processing.

Open Encoding in the organization navigation.

  1. Decide whether to keep the original uploaded file.
  2. Enable an MP4 fallback only when your distribution workflow needs it.
  3. Select the output resolutions appropriate for your source quality and audience.
  4. Save the configuration.

Do not select a resolution higher than the source expecting additional detail. Upscaling cannot recreate image information that is absent from the original.

The saved configuration applies to future uploads. Previously processed videos keep their existing outputs. After a major change, upload a short sample and verify processing and playback before starting a large batch.

If a processed video does not play as expected, follow the video playback troubleshooting guide.
